Standard vs. Deep Cleaning: Which Does Your Home Need?

“Standard clean” and “deep clean” get used loosely, which makes quotes hard to compare. Here is how we use the terms at Rejuv Cleaning, and how to work out which one you need.

What a standard clean is for

A standard clean maintains a home that is already at a reasonable baseline. It covers the surfaces you use every day: kitchen counters, sink, stovetop and appliance fronts; bathrooms top to bottom; dusting reachable surfaces; vacuuming and washing floors; emptying garbage; making beds.

It is designed to be repeated weekly, every two weeks or monthly. Regular visits help prevent build-up, so each visit can focus on upkeep rather than catching up.

What a deep clean adds

A deep clean includes everything above, plus the detail work that does not need doing every visit:

• Baseboards, doors, door frames and casings wiped down
• Ceiling fans, light fixtures, vents, switches and outlet covers
• Blinds, shutters and window sills; interior window glass
• An inside-oven wipe-down
• Cabinet and drawer fronts and handles detailed
• Upholstered furniture vacuumed
• Bathroom fixtures shined and grout lines scrubbed to lift surface build-up

Some items, such as inside the fridge, inside empty cabinets, window tracks and range hood filters, can be added when listed in your quote.

How to decide

Ask yourself three questions:

1. When was the home last professionally cleaned? If it has been more than a few months, or never, start with a deep clean.
2. Can you see dust on baseboards, vents or fan blades? Those are deep-clean items. If they need attention, a standard clean will not reach them.
3. Are you starting a recurring plan? Starting from a deep clean often makes the recurring visits that follow more effective, though it depends on the home.

If your home has had regular professional cleaning recently, a standard clean is usually enough, and we will tell you so.
